How To Wear: Strategic Loungewear by Piamita

As the weather begins to drop here in Atlanta, it can be hard to change out of those comfy sweatpants at home and get dressed for the day. That’s why one of my favorite designers we carry here at Morgan Kylee. is Piamita, for their delicious line of, what I’ve decided to call, Strategic Loungewear. Sure they look and feel like a comfortable pair of pajamas, but this is anything but your average “around the house” clothes.  In mesmerizing prints and the softest fabrics, the sets can be worn together for a lounge-look or separately for total day-appropriate styles! Here is an easy “How To” on rocking your favorite Strategic Loungewear for a day out of the house. And don’t forget to stop by the store this week to check out all the other amazing Piamita styles and prints!

How To Wear (Top) - Pair the loose-fitting top with edgy and fitted faux-leather pants and rugged boots. This combination of feminine and fierce work perfectly for a weekend date night this fall. With such a bold print, make sure you keep accessories minimal and stick to a solid color necklace.

How To Wear (Pants) - Ideal for a day of running errands, the easy tank, flat shoes and classic leather jacket style will keep you stylish and comfortable all day long. For a girly-touch, add in a pale pink scarf!

Trunk Show: Troubadour and Nha Khanh

Last week at the store, we had the honor of hosting a two-day trunk show of Nha Khanh and Troubadour's spring '13 lines. The racks were filled with tangerine colored party dresses, printed shorts, lacy frocks and floral maxi's. Here are a few of my favorite styles that you can expect to see at Morgan Kylee. starting early next year. I know we've just barely started fall here in Atlanta...but these styles get us super excited for spring!

Meet: Designer Michael Angel

One of my favorite designers this season is Michael Angel, and we're lucky here at Morgan Kylee. to be the only store in Atlanta that carries his boundary-breaking digital print designs!

The Australian born designer, who now lives in New York City, launched his eponymous collection in 2007.  A year later in the September 2008 issue of Vogue, Angel was named the "Upcoming Designer To Watch." Since then, he has appeared in Italian Vogue, Interview Magazine and WWD. Angel has also caught the attention of the most fashionable celebrity powerhouses, including Mary Kate Olsen, Gwen Stefani, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker.

I recently got the opportunity to ask Angel a few questions about his line, his inspiration and where the collection is going in the future. Check it out and make sure you stop by the store this week to shop his styles!

Who/what inspired your fall line? My Fall line was inspired by the late interior designer Ward Bennett's minimal style of the 70's. The color palette of gray hues, earthy stones and faded beiges in the outerwear and separates echoed his aesthetic. Layered feather prints saturated in liquid-like swirls of mauve, burgundy, blue, green and black were signifying a newfound sense of freedom and a move towards the ethereal future.

What kind of woman do you design for? Who do you picture in your clothes? Essentially, the women I design for have an effortlessly chic sense of humor who are a little rough around the edges.

Favorite part of designing clothes for women? I love to sketch and drape...is the fun part! The creative process is essential. The moment when I see a woman wearing one of my pieces is a gratifying moment as it becomes wearable.

What's the greatest moment since launching your line? Being recognized at the "Prince of Prints"

Why did you decide not to do a Spring 2013 collection? Will you be back for fall 2013? I wanted to look at what the technique of digital prints has to offer with a fresh perspective that's new, progressive and above all inovative. I am concentrating on the long-term development and strategy of the Michael Angel brand. Stay tuned for some exciting new projects!

How To: Scarf Styles

I get asked all the time here at the store, “How am I supposed to wear a scarf?” I’ve always been obsessed with scarves, so I am constantly experimenting with ways I can wrap, twist and tie my favorite accessory to create new looks. And since these amazing Beatles print scarves by Maharishi came in, I can’t help but want to show them off in tons of new ways! So here are my four favorite ways to wear scarves not only in the fall, but all year round.

Knotted Ends: Wear for a casual for a day of running errands. Treat it as more of an accessory rather than something to keep you warm.

Standard Loop: Best when worn under a winter coat to keep you warm without being bulky.

Headscarf: Fun style for those hot summer days or even in the fall for a hippie-chic addition to your look.

Double Wrap: Easy style for chilly days where a coat isn't needed. Worn with a cozy sweater or long sleeve top, this scarf wrap is fashionable and functional.
